Li Boqian, the renowned archaeologist and professor at Peking University's School of Archaeology and Museology, has discussed the position and role of the Central Plains in the formation of Chinese civilization. He proposed that around 5,300 years ago, the Yangshao culture in the Central Plains, the Hongshan culture in the northern regions, and the later Liangzhu culture in the lower Yangtze River region surpassed local tribes and entered a stable and independent era of early ancient states, and as they subsequently developed, these ancient states followed different development paths. Due to their strong developmental potential and impetus, the model of these ancient states gradually gained prominence over time, eventually becoming the leading core of the development process forming the backbone of Chinese civilization.
著名考古学家、北京大学考古文博学院教授李伯谦在谈到“中原地区在中国文明形成过程中的地位与作用”时提出，大约距今5300年前后，中原地区的仰韶文化、北方地区的红山文化及稍后的长江下游良渚文化先后进入了高于部落之上的、稳定的、独立的“古国”时代。在此后的进一步发展中，各地区“古国”选择了不同的发展道路或演进模式。由于这种模式具有强大的发展潜力和动力，在随后的时间里它后来居上，最终成为中华文明总进程的核心与引领者，形成华夏文明的主干和根脉。

On March 22nd, China's Top 10 New Archaeological Discoveries of 2023 were announced in Beijing. Among the 22 nationwide archaeological project candidates, Zhengzhou's Shuyuan Street Cemetery at the Shang City Site stood out and was successfully accepted. With a total of 16 entries over the years recognized among China's Top 10 New Archaeological Discoveries, Zhengzhou ranks among the forefront in the country.
3月22日，2023年度全国十大考古新发现评选结果在京揭晓。郑州商都书院街墓地从全国22个考古项目中脱颖而出，成功入选。至此，郑州入选“全国十大考古新发现”总数达到16个，位居全国前列。
With two World Cultural Heritage sites, 83 national-level protected units, 147 provincial-level protected units, and nearly ten thousand fixed cultural relics, major museums in Zhengzhou have opened up a direct gateway for visitors from across the country and around the world to explore and understand Zhengzhou. In addition to the existing free admission to museums, Zhengzhou is actively exploring immersive experience projects such as digital theaters and interpretive theaters in public spaces. So far, with over a hundred museums in the city, "museum-hopping" in Zhengzhou has become a new trend.

To the west of Zhengzhou lies Dengfeng Yangcheng, where the grand history of the Xia Dynasty is inscribed.
