As the 10th national-level metropolitan area approved in China, the Zhengzhou metropolitan area has recently made significant moves. Henan Province has released a comprehensive plan to promote resource gathering and enable scientific and technological innovation in the cities within the Zhengzhou metropolitan area. Moreover, the plan will also facilitate division of labour and collaboration in the industrial system, promote infrastructure connectivity, and coordinate development through opening-up to the outside world, joint ecological protection and environment management, and convenient sharing of public services to create a modern metropolitan area with international influence.

作为中国第10个获批的国家级都市圈，郑州都市圈最近又有“大动作”。河南省出台郑州都市圈一揽子规划，将全面推进“圈内城市”科技创新聚势赋能、产业体系分工协作、基础设施互联互通、对外开放协同共兴、生态环境共保联治、公共服务便利共享等，打造具有国际影响力的现代化都市圈。

To strengthen regional competitive advantages and accelerate the integrated development of the Zhengzhou metropolitan area, Henan Province is planning to form and promote a comprehensive "1+1+3+N+X" metropolitan area planning system. Following the Zhengzhou Metropolitan Area Development Plan issued by the Henan Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, the Henan Province Zhengzhou Metropolitan Area Construction Leading Group Office has issued six special plans for metropolitan area transportation, industry, public services, energy, ecology and water conservancy. The construction of the Zhengzhou metropolitan area planning system has been accelerated as the development blueprint gradually becomes clear.

塑强区域竞争优势、加快郑州都市圈一体化发展，河南省通盘考虑、高位推动，正谋划形成“1+1+3+N+X”都市圈规划体系。当前，继河南省委、省政府印发郑州都市圈发展规划后，河南省郑州都市圈建设领导小组办公室又相继印发都市圈交通、产业、公共服务、能源、生态、水利6个专项规划，郑州都市圈规划体系加快构建，发展“蓝图”逐步清晰。

The Zhengzhou metropolitan area, centered on Zhengzhou and consisting of surrounding cities, county-level cities and districts within a one-hour commuting range, is situated at the intersection of the Eurasia Continental Bridge corridor and the Beijing-Guangzhou corridor, two of the two horizontal corridors and three vertical corridors making up China's strategic urbanization layout. It has outstanding advantages in human resources, market scale, industrial development and transportation location. Henan Province will promote the national central city of Zhengzhou to serve as a "national leader" and enhance its internationalization, strengthen the role of Zhengzhou, its Airport Economy Zone, Kaifeng and Xuchang as the main drivers, promote the coordinated development of Zhengzhou and Luoyang, thereby "strengthening the core, enhancing the area and leading the groups" in building a development pattern characterized by coordinated main and auxiliary roles, regional collaboration and area integration.

郑州都市圈位于中国“两横三纵”城镇化战略格局中陆桥通道、京广通道的交会处，人力资源、市场规模、产业发展、交通区位等优势突出。按照规划，郑州都市圈以郑州为中心，由与其1小时通勤范围内的周边市和县（市、区）共同组成。河南省将推动郑州国家中心城市当好“国家队”、提升国际化，强化郑（港）汴许主引擎作用，推动郑洛协同发展，有序推进“提核、强圈、领群”，构建“主副协同、区域统筹、圈层一体”的空间发展格局。

As this Metropolitan Area emerges in Henan, regions in the Central Plains will distinguish themselves. According to the plan, the urbanization rate of the permanent population in the Zhengzhou metropolitan area will reach 75% by 2027. Significant progress will be made in the integrated urban development and comprehensive strength, and a modern metropolitan area that is innovative, open, integrated, smoothly efficient, green and safe with good public welfare will be established. The city strives to significantly enhance Zhengzhou's comprehensive competitiveness and international influence by 2035, to enter the forefront of national central cities with an increasingly prominent role in driving regional development, after which the comprehensive strength of Zhengzhou's metropolitan area will rise significantly, the scale and development level of new infrastructure construction will enter the national forefront, and the integrated high-quality development will be comprehensively realized.

一“圈”出河南，中原更出彩。根据规划，到2027年，郑州都市圈常住人口城镇化率将达到75%，同城化发展和综合实力取得明显进展，初步建成创新集聚、开放融合、高效畅通、民生共享、绿色安全的现代化都市圈。力争到2035年，郑州市综合竞争力和国际影响力显著增强，进入国家中心城市前列，辐射带动作用更加凸显；郑州都市圈综合实力大幅跃升，新型基础设施建设规模和发展水平进入全国先进行列，全面实现一体化高质量发展。
