On the day of the summer solstice, the daytime has reached its limit, and from then on, the nights gradually lengthen. Today is the summer solstice, the earliest solar term confirmed among the 24 solar terms. On this day, there has been a custom since ancient times for women to give each other fans.

While cooling off and avoiding the dog days of summer, fans are used to symbolize kindness in traditional Chinese culture, to bring in blessings, and to convey good wishes.
