The Yellow River Chengni inkstone, the only one of the four famous Chinese inkstones made from clay, is crafted from the silt deposited by the Yellow River over millennia. Utilizing intricate cloisonné enamel and chasing techniques, it depicts the dramatic transformation of Henan across six distinct scenes. The Shang dynasty tripod element crowning the vessel symbolizes Henan's prosperity, while the peony, China's national flower, represents wealth and honor. The border adorned with the Chinese character "中" signifies China, and the geometric patterns symbolize national unity. The rosewood base, intricately carved with lotus blossoms, signifies the accumulation of wealth and the promise of peace and prosperity for the nation.
